Student Paper Competition Overview & Requirements

In conjunction with the AA&S Conference, NASA is sponsoring a Student Paper Competition. Full time college or university students (graduate or undergraduate level) are invited to submit an abstract following the same guidelines and topic requirements as outlined under the Call For Papers. The Airworthiness Organizing Committee will evaluate all conference abstracts, including those from students.

Students whose abstracts are accepted for presentation will receive travel assistance in the form of a stipend. Student papers will be presented during the regular conference sessions. A panel of reviewers will rate student papers on content, quality, and effectiveness of presentation. The best student presentations will be recognized during the Conference Group Luncheon on Thursday, May 13th. Top student presentations may receive cash awards depending on the availability of funds.

Awards

• All students whose abstracts are selected by the Airworthiness Organizing Committee will receive
a travel stipend of $1500 to assist with the conference registration fee, travel and hotel expenses.

• Cash prizes ranging from $1000 to $500 may awarded to the top three student presenters,
depending on available funds and timely submission of required tax forms.

ALL ABSTRACTS MUST BE UNCLASSIFIED, PUBLIC RELEASABLE AND NON-PROPRIETARY

Participation and Submission Requirements

• All primary authors must be full time students at an accredited post-secondary institution
(college, university, professional school or technical institute) at the time the abstract is
  submitted for consideration.

• Papers not presented by students will not qualify for awards or travel stipends.

• Student papers should report on work conducted primarily by students in collaboration
  with their faculty advisors.

• Abstracts must be submitted electronically through this website using the “Student Paper Submission” link.
